OUR HISTORY
In 1983, First Baptist Church of Moss Bluff launched a ministry dedicated to serving families in the church and the community, providing a one-day-a-week Mother’s Day Out program for mothers. Recognizing the growing need, they expanded to offer preschool classes for two to three days a week.
In 1990, with 13 students, the first kindergarten class opened, marking the birth of the First Baptist Christian Academy (FBCA). This journey has enriched families, fostering a sense of community and support as they embraced church and school together. Families cherished their time at FBCA and yearned for more. Under the inspired leadership of Pastor Jay Ramer and Ray Swift, whose children were part of the 2001 kindergarten class, they decided to add the first 1st-grade class the following year, continuing to expand with a new grade each year.
Over the past thirty years, the school has flourished, including state-approved preschool classes through 8th grade, serving over 350+ students. The dedicated staff consists of a Head of School, an Elementary/Pre-K Principal, a Middle School Principal, and over 55 teachers, aides, and support staff. As we reflect on the journey, we see how God has worked through each of the four principals, guiding us closer to His divine plan for FBCA.
In 2020, God imparted a vision to Miranda Vinson, our acting Head of School, for FBCA to shine brightly in our community, with dreams of expanding to include a high school on its own campus. With the steadfast support of our governing board, FBCA has acquired land and is moving forward with this vision, preparing to enlarge our reach and extend our impact as we raise up future generations to transform the world and rekindle hope in struggling communities (Isaiah 54:2-3).
In 2024, FBCA complete Step 1 of the expansion plan. This consisted of a $2.5 million project culminating the opening of the “Upper Academy”. FBCA has announced that Step 2 is underway and 2026 will mark the opening of Moss Bluff’s FIRST Christian high school. We eagerly anticipate the chapters ahead as students graduate from FBCA, carrying with them the core values instilled throughout their years: seeking truth, glorifying God, pursuing holiness and excellence, and respecting and loving those around them.
